It's interesting, how the writer (or writers, given the possibility of Bob Ong being a posse of UP professors) weaves all his RL experiences into one short chapter, but throughout the course of reading the book, I felt I wasn't really going anywhere. When the nonfiction writing started, however, that's when I got lost. Like how Marvin Agustin became president, and Tootsie Guevarra became his vice, etc. I particularly enjoyed the opening, the conversation between and regarding what happened to the Philippines after died. I've always been more into structured, carefully played out - if not, contrived - literature. But I guess I'm not used to his casual, write-whatever-comes-to-my-mind style. That means, I also didn't enjoy it very much - which in turn probably makes me part of the tiny fraction of the Filipino population that isn't fascinated with Bob Ong. Call me slow or whatever you wish, but I didn't get this book at all.

Eli is a conflicted and complicated character with a hero complex who genuinely believes he is doing the right thing. He is religious, and believes in playing God even when it seems to be the wrong thing to do. However, under this charismatic mask, he can be apathetic, manipulative, calculating and self-righteous. Since his university days, he has proven to be rather ambitious and smart by being top of his classes and even figuring out how EOs are made. On the face of it, Eli appears charming, charismatic, and amiable, able to gain the trust of others quickly and possessing a disarming aura that causes him to be popular with the people of Lockland, Haverford, and all of the other places he has bounced around. Despite being thirty-seven, Eli hasn't appeared to age a day since he received his regenerative abilities, causing him to still appear twenty-two. He has been described as handsome by a number of people, including Victor, Serena, Angie, and Sydney. Eli owns broad shoulders and glittering brown eyes. He has been described as being "built for the sports teams and the clubs yet never showed any desire to join either". Eli is described to be lanky and tall, with tanned skin and rich brown hair. Syd Hoff makes this story extremely cute and heartwarming at the same time as Danny learns about the true meaning of friendship when he spends much of his day with the dinosaur and enjoys his time spent with the dinosaur. Also, what made Syd Hoff's illustrations truly creative is that there would be a set of two pages that are mainly in brown, black and white and then the next set of two pages would be in all kinds of color, which is a similar format that "Madeline's Rescue" had. Syd Hoff's illustrations are both creative and cute at the same time as the dinosaur that Danny encounters looks extremely friendly and the dinosaur's body would usually take up the pages that he is on and Danny himself is an extremely cute and friendly looking child as he always has a smile on his face when he is around the dinosaur. Syd Hoff has done an outstanding job at both illustrating and writing this book. Are they from her ex-boyfriend, a secret admirer, or someone playing a cruel trick?
